La Ronge seeking new community services manager

Aug 27, 2021 | 2:12 PM

The Town of La Ronge is seeking to hire a replacement for the role of community services manager.

Long-time municipal employee Tonia Logan gave notice she was vacating the position, which encompasses a wide range of responsibilities such as parks and recreation to managing operations at the Mel Hegland Uniplex. The maximum salary for the position is $81,000.

“Especially with the will of council, we want a big push for community wellness, and recreation and programming within the town and the tri-communities,” La Ronge Mayor Colin Ratushniak said.

Back in April, council released its strategic plan with wellness and recreation included in a list of 18 objectives. Ratushniak explained the community services manager position will be a bit different moving forward as council wants to deliver more opportunities in areas like youth programming. Council would also like to find new funding in the way of grants.

The ideal candidate should have a diploma or degree in recreation with experience in facility management, municipal parks and development of community-based programming. The candidate also needs experience with municipal budgeting, policy development and human resource management.

“It all does tie back to the community wellness piece in the strategic plan for everyone and the health of our community,” Ratushniak said.

Those interested in applying have until Sept. 8.
