Excitement for hockey season on display at North Stars Fall Camp

It was all smiles on the face of North Stars’ veteran, Carson Reagan Sunday afternoon, as the North Stars wrapped up a whirlwind of a Fall Camp weekend at the Access Communications Centre.

Reagan, who was among the team’s handful of 20-year-olds at an otherwise heavily youthful camp, couldn’t help but flash his patented ear-to-ear grin while talking about how the weekend went and how it feels to be back at the local rink with his Stars’ teammates.

“Just getting back on the ice and getting back with the boys, nothing feels better,” Reagan said. “It was a great weekend and we got to see a lot of fresh faces of new guys around the rink too, so everything’s starting to feel normal again, and nothing makes me happier.”

Taking place at the Access Communications Centre, main camp featured 80 players divided up into five teams, with an additional four prospect teams as well, made up of unsigned, draft-eligible players around the 14 to 15-year-old age group.

Scrimmages then took place throughout virtually the entire day Friday and Saturday, from as early as 9:15 a.m. to as late as 10 p.m. Sunday, scrimmage action resumed from 9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., before culminating in the final ‘Top 40’ game, featuring the top players remaining following cuts each of the two days prior.

Head coach and general manager of the Stars, Brayden Klimosko said he liked the energy and spark of the players collectively from the get-go, even if the conditioning from the group as a whole could use a bit of a tune-up, following an extended summer layoff.

“Really early on you saw the excitement and the energy levels were really high Friday, [though] I think it dipped down a little bit Saturday because they were not quite used to the pace and used to playing games again,” Klimosko said. “Obviously that’s something we’ll have to work on, but it’s been a nice start. It’s exciting, and we’re looking forward to putting in the work here the next couple of weeks.”
