Increased COVID-19 exposure in Lloydminster at cabaret event
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is advising the public of increased COVID-19 exposure at an event in Lloydminster more than a week ago.
The cabaret at Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds had a person(s) attending while infectious between 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 21 to 1:30 a.m. the next morning. This was during the weekend of the CPCA Finals. The SHA recommends all individuals who were in attendance in that window to immediately self-isolate and seek COVID-19 testing.
Cities like Saskatchewan and Regina are reintroducing mask mandates, while professional franchises like the Saskatchewan Roughriders will soon require all those attending games to have been vaccinated or to have a negative COVID test prior to entering stadiums. This has been in response to an increase of cases over the past month.
As of Aug. 31, there are 54,367 positive cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, with the active case total jumping up to 2,204, hospitalizations back up to 130 and deaths now at 603. However, there are also more than 51,500 recoveries and the fatality rate for positive cases remains at 1.2 per cent.
