Denise Loucks to represent Maverick Party for Yorkton-Melville

Sep 1, 2021 | 5:11 PM

Denise Loucks is the first ever Maverick Party candidate in the Yorkton-Melville riding.

Loucks currently resides at Canora Beach, grew up in Ebenezer, and lived and worked in Yorkton for 28 years.

She made the decision to get more involved in politics in November of last year.

“I bought a membership with the Maverick Party, I got a little frustrated with the way politics were going and the way Ottawa seems to intrude into our area of provincial jurisdiction,” Loucks said.

Loucks said while she has been door knocking prior to the Sept. 20 federal election the riding of Yorkton-Melville is quite large. The riding includes Hudson Bay, St. Brieux, Foam Lake, Spy Hill and over to the Esterhazy area. Constituents have been expressing a want for change but the type of change they want is unclear, according to Loucks.

“I have been in various communities around here,” Loucks said. “A lot of people are getting very passionate and are very tired of the way things have been going.”

The Maverick Party is a voice from the west for the west, Loucks said.

“We are no longer tied to the constraints of chasing votes in the east, we will only have candidates running in the west,” Loucks said.

Loucks said a stronger west is needed to build a better future.
