The recent arrest of suspects involved in an August break and enter has recovered jewelry related to other thefts.

The Nipawin RCMP are asking anyone who reported jewelry stolen recently to contact them due to the large amount of items seized during the related warrant.

On Aug. 26, 2021, Nipawin RCMP received a complaint of a daytime break and enter to a residence on 10th Avenue West in Nipawin that occurred on that date between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

A safe containing expensive jewelry and a number of other valuable items were taken from the residence. On Sept. 7, 2021, Nipawin RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on the 100 block of 6th Avenue west in Nipawin.

During the police search, over $18,600 in stolen property was recovered and returned to two victims from recent break and enter investigations in Nipawin. Some items recovered were found to be related to other separate break and enter incidents earlier in the summer.

Currently, a male youth from Nipawin is charged with:

  • Breaking and entering with intent to a residence – Section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;

and 61-year-old Brian Kayfish of Nipawin is charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 – Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5000 – Section 355.2 of the Criminal Code.
