RCMP Report: Missing teen, break-ins investigation

Sep 9, 2021 | 4:08 PM

Update: Battleford RCMP have located missing woman Taylin Paddy.

The 28 year-old was last seen shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday evening on Clark Drive in North Battleford. She was reportedly wearing black pants and a purple long sleeve shirt.

Sgt. Neil Tremblay said someone claiming to be Paddy had reached out to the detachment.

“We can’t confirm it’s her, but it’s likely she’s ok,” he said. “So now it’s just tracking her down, just to make sure she’s safe.”

Anyone with information on Paddy’s whereabouts can contact the detachment. This is the only active missing person report of the 17 from the past week.

Multiple assault investigations, still looking for robbery connection

Over the past service period, Battlefords RCMP responded to 514 calls for service, including 18 assault investigations.

One of the calls, which came on Sept. 1, was of a male who reported being robbed at knife point by two suspects of his wallet and phone on the Highway 16 overpass in North Battleford. However, video surveillance of the incident was located and it was found that a robbery did not take place as subscribed. Tremblay said because the subject was extremely intoxicated, they are not proceeding with charges of a false allegation.

“That calls into question mens rea, but we released the information because it was a public situation and we weren’t sure how many people would have been aware he was making these allegations when there’s video that shows it clearly did not happen.”

There were three break and enter investigations and seven vehicle thefts reported. In one case, a 25 year-old Shaylene Bull was arrested in North Battleford on Sept. 3 following complaints of erratic driving came in. Bull was operating a stolen vehicle from Cut Knife and was remanded into custody on charges relating to the vehicle and dangerous driving. She appeared in court on Tuesday.

The RCMP are on the lookout for two vehicles taken during this period, a black 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 with Saskatchewan license plate of 349-MFR and a black 2014 Chrysler 300 Touring with Saskatchewan license plate of 546-MFT. The Dodge was reported stolen from Saulteaux First Nation on Sept. 7 and while charges are pending against a 36 year-old female suspect, the vehicle has not yet been recovered. The Chrysler was reported stolen from Winder Crescent in North Battleford the morning of September 3.

Tremblay mentioned all of the business break-ins in the city are being reviewed for patterns and commonalities. While he said many of the vehicle break-ins would appear to be a matter of opportunity, Tremblay said they’re looking closely at several store break-ins in the downtown area.

“We’re also having a section in Regina doing an analysis, to potentially identify some suspects,” he said. “We do believe there are some connections between some of the robberies.”

The detachment also dealt with 19 Mental Health Act investigations, one charge related to impaired driving, 15 traffic collisions and 22 charges for various other driving offences. Anyone who has information on any incident in the Battlefords can contact Battlefords RCMP, 310- RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Truck stolen near Lashburn Esso

Robberies at other locations in the region are under investigation by rural detachments.

Maidstone RCMP are looking for a white Ford F-150, with a Saskatchewan licence plate of 109-KTY. The vehicle belongs to the Town of Lashburn and was stolen from the parking lot of the local C&L service Centre on August 31.

Anyone who sees this truck are asked to call the Maidstone detachment, 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
