Sweetgrass First Nation reporting 20 active COVID-19 cases

Sep 16, 2021 | 5:17 PM

Sweetgrass First Nation is currently dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak.

Dr. Ibrahim Khan, a regional medical health officer for Indigenous Services Canada, said in a statement the outbreak has been declared due to concerns about ongoing community transmission.

On Wednesday the First Nation indicated there were a total of 20 active cases, which included six new cases.

People are reminded to stay home if they develop symptoms.

If they test positive for the virus they will need to self isolate.

People are also asked to avoid closed spaces, large gatherings, practise social distancing, and wear a mask.

“All vaccines are safe and effective, even against the variants,” Khan said in the release. “We urge you not to wait. Get your first and/or second dose as soon as possible.”
