‘Wrestlemania’ type event set for Sept. 18 in Tisdale

The Recplex in Tisdale will be the site for Septomania, this Saturday, Sept. 18. Septomania is a similar event to Wrestlemania or WWE.

The event was supposed to happen almost two years ago but got pushed back to this weekend, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event will be TV taped by Best Entertainment Wrestling, to be featured on SaskTel Max at a later date and is expecting around 500 people.

There will be a total of seven matches, ranging from cage match titles to tag team titles, not in the cage or just regular matches that won’t involve a title.

Claude Cusson, Owner and Promoter for BEW, says that choosing Tisdale as a destination was because of the other events that he had seen before in the community, as well as the surrounding area he thought he could attract.

“Tisdale is always doing Food Truck Wars there or something there and everybody was excited to have the show there two years ago and it’s right in between two communities in Melfort and Nipawin,” Cusson said.

And Cusson isn’t just thinking about one event either, as he knows what success this weekend could really mean.

“I hope it goes well, so I can come back to Tisdale or Melfort. If everything goes well and we get a lot of people from Melfort, we could organize a show there too,” he added.

This show also means a lot to Cusson, as this will be the first-ever event in Saskatchewan.

“I’m a guy from Saskatoon, so I want to do Saskatchewan, I want to show the Saskatchewan people some great wrestling and talent that we have,” Cusson said.

For the show, this isn’t their first event ever, however, as they just finished coming off a tour in Alberta.

“We did about five shows in Red Deer because we couldn’t do it in Saskatchewan yet,” Cusson said.

And Cusson is especially excited about this event because of the talent he has and how much he knows the northeast Saskatchewan area will appreciate it.

“It’s a great event, I have wrestlers coming from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec and Australia. There’s a lot of wrestling fans up north, so I thought why not bring something that people are excited about.”

For the show, the memo is pretty simple, this show needs to go well, so we can come back and keep having great events.

“I would like to see everybody there,” Cusson said. “It’s going to be something you don’t want to miss, it’s a cage match and those things are brutal. I want to come back to Tisdale with other major talents and other big names.”
