North Stars name office assistant ahead of 2021-22 season

The Battlefords North Stars have announced Kennnedy Schmidt as their new game day and office assistant, ahead of the start of the 2021-22 hockey season.

Kennedy, who has already been hard at work since Wednesday, with the eve of the new SJHL season just around the corner Friday, said while there’s been a lot of new things to learn, she’s happy to be a part of the organization and looking forward to getting the season underway this weekend.

“I’m certain to learn some new things, and this is a much bigger role than I had in the past, but I’m super excited to get going, and especially for the season to actually start,” she said. “It’s been a long time since we’ve had a home opener in this building and we’re super excited.”

While she may be in a new, and more official role with the team this year, Schmidt is no stranger to the ACC.

As a game-day volunteer, she has experience with a number of facets behind the scenes, from selling 50-50 tickets, to working the merchandise booth, selling season tickets and setting up the upstairs lounge for team events and meetings, working closely with former office manager, Jennifer Whyte.

Head coach of the Stars, Brayden Klimosko said that familiarity will only be an asset.

“She’s been with the North Stars for a while and a lot of people know who she is, [since] she’s been volunteering for years with the team,” he said. “Obviously to add a familiar face that has been through some of the aspects of what needs to be done will help, so to have someone like Kennedy apply, we’re really very fortunate.”
