Rotary Club of Melfort present cheque to Communities in Bloom

The Rotary Club of Melfort presented Communities in Bloom with a cheque for $3,000 to help pay for the sign that is located on the north end of Broadway Avenue.

Communities in Bloom (CiB) is a nonprofit organization run with a group of volunteers dedicated to making the community a more beautiful and welcoming place for all who visit the City of Melfort.

Peggy George, volunteer and member of CiB, said that they can’t thank the Rotary Club enough for their generosity.

“We put the seeder there, it was donated by the Sundin family,” George said. “We kind of spruced up this corner. Kind of a welcome to the people coming into the town from the north. We are so proud of our farmers and the agricultural industry that we have in this area that what better than the iconic elevators?”

Treasurer of Rotary Club of Melfort, Brian Cocks, said the club is happy to be partnered with Communities in Bloom.

“Communities in Bloom they asked us for the donation of $3,000 to assist with the sign on the north side of Highway 6,” Cocks said. “The acknowledgement will be on the sign soon.”

Cocks said the Rotary Club is glad to partner with any community organizations and to reach out if there is an event or project that needs assistance.

“If you live in Melfort, we are all partners. If anyone has something that needs done, you can ask Rotary. Sometimes we can get to it.” Cocks said.
