Teen back at home and recovering after recent stabbing
Wayne Bird is happy his 16-year-old son is on the road to recovery after a stabbing left him in critical condition and admitted to Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon.
Last week, La Ronge RCMP were dispatched to a report of a stabbing at Morley Wilson Park on the evening of Sept. 22. Upon arrival, officers discovered Bird’s son with multiple stab wounds and he was transported to the La Ronge Health Centre, before being airlifted by STARS Air Ambulance to Saskatoon.
“I went to work the next morning because I didn’t know what happened and then when I was at work is when I got a phone call from Saskatoon Youth Intensive Care Unit,” Bird said. “They didn’t let me know very many details other than he was stabbed and in critical condition.”
Bird then travelled to Saskatoon to be with his son, who was on a breathing tube and in a pressurized room. Bird said doctors had to use draining tubes to remove excess blood accumulating near his ribs.
