The NBCHS Vikings were back in the win column this week, defeating Evan Hardy Collegiate (EHC) 20-9 at home.

The home team scored on their first drive of the game on a six-yard run by Jackson Geddes. It remained 7-0 for the Vikings until late in the first half, when Geddes scored his second touchdown of the game on a 47 yard pass from Isaac Neufeld.

Geddes rounded out the scoring with his third TD of the game in the third quarter, finishing with 308 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns, encompassing 186 yards rushing, 85 yards receiving, and 37 yards in punt returns. Overall, the team put up 429 yards in offence, while limiting EHC to 112 yards.

Head coach Mike Humenny said the staff was very happy with the result, especially on the defensive side, and praised the running efforts of Geddes and Bradley Byl.

“They were very physical throughout the game and offensively, we were able to rush the ball all game long,” he said.

However, Humenny noted they still need work on special teams.

“We had too many miscues on several occasions,” he said. “We will address this next week at practice.”

The Vikings end the regular season next week in Prince Albert, where they will play the St. Mary Marauders, who are 2-1 heading into a Friday tilt against Prince Albert Carlton.
