Mintos win weekend series at home against Bears

The Prince Albert Mintos have won back-to-back games on Thanksgiving weekend against the Estevan Bears at the Art Hauser Centre to improve to 4-2 on the year.

On Saturday the Mintos and the Bears met in Prince Albert where the home team won in dominant fashion 5-1.

Mintos forwards Ryan Leptizki and Jacob Cosette scored twice each, and Karson Blanchette scored once for Prince Albert.

Tucker Buhay scored the lone goal for Estevan late in the third period.

Ty Shumanski made the start in goal for the Mintos making 30 saves with a .968 save percentage.

On Sunday afternoon the Mintos had a rematch against the Bears winning a close one 5-3 at home.

Defenceman Danton Cox, forward Jacob Cossette, defenceman Rhett Ravndahl, forward Ashton Tait, and defenceman Chase Hansen all contributed on the score sheet for the Mintos. Tucker Buhay, Cade Cole and Marshall Light all scored for the Bears.

Jayden Kraus was in net for Prince Albert. He made 23 saves on a .885 save percentage.

Next up for the Mintos is a road trip to Estevan where they’ll take on the Bears next weekend on Oct. 16 and 17 at Affinity Place.
