Battlefords AAA Sharks defeat Bears 4-1
The Battlefords AAA Sharks had their first victory of the season Thursday night in Battleford.
Following two losses to start the year against Swift Current, the Sharks had a much more complete effort against the Prince Albert Bears, winning 4-1. Madison Guitard opened the scoring less than five minutes into the game, followed by an unassisted tally from Mykayla Pylypow shortly after. After trading goals in the second, the Sharks had another early goal in the third from Ava Cole to cement their lead.
Controlling play for much of the game accounted for a 39-27 shot disparity favouring the Sharks, while both squads went goalless on power play opportunities. Nine different players had one point, including goaltender Emma Backman, who also made 26 saves in the win.
