CurlSask Club Championships coming to North Battleford this weekend
North Battleford’s Twin Rivers Curling Club will host the 2021 CurlSask Curling Club Championships this weekend, Oct. 29 to Nov. 1.
This will be the 12th year of the provincial Curling Club Championships, a unique event that features grassroot to semi-competitive athletes, who have played at a club level regularly – and many of whom serve as the lifeblood of their community curling clubs – whether as volunteers, coaches, ice technicians or youth clinic coordinators; giving them a chance to compete for a national title.
Vice President of the Twin Rivers Curling Club, Doug Fehr, said it’s an exciting time around the club, as this weekend will mark the first larger-scale event they have been able to hold over the last year-and-a-half or so, in addition to being a favourite of many on the curling schedule.
“We’re quite excited about it, as it’s the first event we’ve hosted in a while, but it’s also really exciting to be able to see these types of players, who contribute to grassroots curling at their various clubs, be able to participate in a provincial championship that leads up to a national championship,” Fehr said.
