Prairie North Co-op announced the success of Fuel Good Day by sharing the proceeds with local organizations.

Through barbecues, co-operative coffee, big cool and fuel sales, Prairie North Co-op raised $10,000.

Terri Larsen, Marketing manager at Prairie North Co-op, said that they met their fundraising goal this year.

“Before the restrictions were placed we did hold barbecues which also contributed to the success of our day.”

Larsen added that people from all over the trading area came to take part in the festivities.

“We had businesses that lined up and had whole fleets of trucks lined up to support fuel good day.”

The Prairie North Co-op trading areas include Archerwill, Kelivington, Melfort, Naicam, Spalding, and St. Brieux.

This year, the money will be split between Melfort and Kelvington Ag Society and Archerwill and St. Brieux Rodeo Grounds.

Larsen said that this year the proceeds are going towards the root of the trading area.

“We started as Melfort Grain Growers way back. The fact that this year we can give back to the ag society and the rodeo grounds is meaningful.”

Fuel Good Day was celebrated on Sept. 21 across Western Canada.

Prairie North Co-op celebrated Co-op Week with various projects, contests, and long-time employees features.

On Oct. 22, Fuel Good Day’s cheque was presented to conclude the festivities.

Co-ops across Western Canada hold Fuel Good Day every year in order to raise money for local charities and non-profits.

In the past five years, Fuel Good Days have raised over $3 million.

More than $595,0000 was raised by Co-ops in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and North Western Ontario this year.
