Dance Connection joins studios across province for #SKdancestogether

North Battleford’s Dance Connection has joined the virtual dance movement across the province.

Dance studios throughout Saskatchewan teamed up this week to take part in #SKdancestogether, an event linking clubs across the province through shared choreography that each could then add on to, to make it uniquely their own, before sharing virtually on social media.

Videos of the dances were then uploaded to socials with the hashtag #SKdancestogether.

Owner of Dance Connection, Daylan Sabin, said they were happy to take part in the idea, designed to unite studios across Saskatchewan, and showcase the power and resiliency of dance.

“Basically this video is to show our dance studios are still going strong and that we’re here for one another, and for our students who love to dance,” Sabin said. “The dance community within Saskatchewan really tries to support one another, and we’ve all been through a lot, so we just want to show the support and how despite a rough go, but we’re still here.”

Dance Connection’s video features a range of ages each putting their own spin on the choreography in a compilation video, posted below. For more videos from across Saskatchewan, people can search the hashtag, #SKdancestogether on social media.

While Dance Connection works with students right from ages two and up, the ‘SK Dances’ video features their primary-aged kids and older, from about ages 7-17.

Sabin said while the last couple of years have been a challenging and difficult time in many ways, the club wants to thank all those who have stuck with them, and continue to enjoy dance as a favorite pastime.

“We know it has been a struggle, and it’s sad that we have seen a lot quit due to circumstances out of our control, which is a little heartbreaking,” she said. “We understand, but we still miss them; and thank all the parents and students who have continued to show their love of dance throughout these last couple of years. We as the teachers really enjoy continuing to teach them for many years to come.”
