Halloween in the Northeast offers sweets and spooks

Halloween in the Northeast has something for everyone this year, from those seeking thrills to those hoping to get some sweet treats.

Bjorkdale Valley Inn is hosting a Halloween bash with live music, drinks, prizes, and fun. Live music will be provided by The Jones Boys. The event is set to kick off at 9 p.m. on Oct. 30.

The Humboldt & District Chamber of Commerce will be offering a drive-thru treat experience for trick-or-treaters who might not feel comfortable going door to door this year. On Oct. 31, the drive-thru will be open to offer candy lovers a safe way to collect their favourite treats.

Rose Valley has issued an official curfew for all children unaccompanied by an adult from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. If you do not have a watch or phone, a fire siren will sound at or near 8 p.m. as a warning.

There’s a clue to Halloween family fun in Melfort. This Halloween, the Northern Lights Palace is hosting a scavenger hunt. Anyone can participate in the hunt anytime between Oct. 20 and Oct. 31 and all they need to do is follow the clues to the next location. The instructions for claiming the prize will be found at the last stop.

A Night with Spirits is an event hosted by Melfort Liquor Loft that allows adults to reconnect with lost loved ones. A group reading from an experienced medium will take place during the event. Attendees will be served hors d’oeuvres and spirits. Tickets are $100 per person and the event is limited to 50 participants.

Wynyard Recreation is offering a way for families to slide into fun. A public skating event will be offered from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m on Oct. 31. Costumes are encouraged. Anyone over the age of 12 must show proof of immunization or a negative test result.

For those in Carrot River, there will also be an opportunity to skate in your costumes. From 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 31 there is a skate and treat event at the Carrot River Arena. All are invited to attend.

The announcement of this contest in Nipawin will delight costume lovers. Post a picture of your Halloween costume to Nipawin Parks & Recreation’s Facebook page. There will be three categories: best group costume, most unique costume, and scariest costume.

Hockey fans can trick-or-treat with their favorite team, the Humboldt Broncos. Anyone can come meet hockey superstars at Bill Brecht Park, Carl Schenn Park, A.E. Kilcher Park and Peace Park at 3 p.m. on Oct. 31.
