Trial set for man accused of Green Lake shooting

Nov 1, 2021 | 2:22 PM

A man said to be involved in a shooting at a residence in Green Lake, Sask. is set to appear in court for trial in the new year.

Scott Maurice from Saskatoon, Sask. faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, discharging a firearm with intent, unlicensed possession of a firearm and obstruction of a peace officer.

This stems from an incident on Aug. 1 when police with the Meadow Lake and Green Lake RCMP were dispatched to a residence on Beaver Road in Green Lake after receiving reports of a shooting.

Officers found an adult male suffering from gunshots wounds when they arrived on scene. The man was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

After determining a male suspect fled the scene during their investigation, police located the individual and took him into custody. A female passenger who was present at the time was also arrested.

Marcella Esperanse, the passenger, currently has a warrant out for her arrest after failing to appear in court. She faces charges of possession of cocaine, and possession of a firearm/weapon/ammunition in a vehicle.

Maurice remains in custody ahead of trial, which is set to begin in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Jan. 25, 2022.
