Strong police presence in Meadow Lake

UPDATE: As of 4:58 p.m. Nov. 8, the RCMP said the incident is now over and they have arrested several individuals. The increased police presence will remain as the investigation continues and they will provide an update tomorrow.

Meadow Lake RCMP are advising the public to stay clear of areas near Seventh Avenue West where officers are present.

The detachment currently has an increased police presence in that part of Meadow Lake in relation to an ongoing investigation. In addition to avoiding areas where police are present, residents are asked follow any police direction provided.

Nearby schools have enacted their hold-and-secure protocols as a precaution.

In a release, RCMP Media Relations said an update with more information will be provided once it is available. If an increased risk to public safety is identified, the public will be notified.
