Nov 10, 2021 | 4:42 PM

The Meadow Lake RCMP detachment has made several arrests after a heavy police presence was required in the community earlier this week.

On Nov. 8, police were made aware of an adult woman being held against her will in a residence located on the 500 block of Seventh Avenue West in Meadow Lake.

Reports stated the suspects were armed and had barricaded themselves into the building where the woman was being held captive.

After the occupants of the residents refused to allow officers into the dwelling, five nearby schools enacted hold-and-secure procedures as a precautionary measure while the incident unfolded.

After several hours, officers were able to enter the residence with the assistance of multiple Saskatchewan RCMP units and safely remove the woman.

She did not receive any injuries during the incident.

Three adult men were taken into custody and already had outstanding warrants for their arrest.

Corey Bouvier of Meadow Lake, Sask. is charged with forcible confinement, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest and three counts of failing to comply with release order.

Kevin Bouvier of Meadow Lake, Sask. is charged with forcible confinement, two counts of uttering threats, obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Ronald Campbell of Buffalo Narrows, Sask. is charged with forcible confinement, obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest.

Recognizing the dangerous situation, Sgt. Stephen Hurst of the Meadow Lake RCMP said police were able to respond promptly and gather the resources necessary to rescue the woman from captivity.

“I realize the anxiety caused by a large police presence in the city and the hold-and-secures at the schools,” he said.

“I thank the public for following directions and giving us the space needed to safely resolve this incident.”

Following their first court appearance, all three will make their next appearance in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Nov. 15.
