Carlton Trail College has welcomed the appointment of two new members to its board of directors, Shawna Miller and Darrell Paproski.

The pair were recently appointed by the Government of Saskatchewan’s Executive Council and bring both governance and educational sector experience to the institution.

In a press release sent to northeastnow board chair, Adrienne Jackson spoke about both candidates and how they will improve the board as a whole.

“We’re pleased with the appointment of Shawna and Darrell to our board. Even as we continue to navigate our way through the pandemic, we know that their knowledge and expertise will only help strengthen our approach, as well as advance our mission within the communities we serve.”

Shawna Miller resides in Watrous and is the governance manager with Affinity Credit Union. A governance and marketing professional with over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Shawna brings board governance, change management and strategic initiatives insight to the college’s board of directors.

With more than 38 years of experience in the K-12 education system, Darrell Paproski is committed to ensuring that all students have access to high-quality educational experiences in rural Saskatchewan.

During his career, Darrell has spent time as a teacher, principal, director and Superintendent of Education and has also volunteered extensively with a variety of professional and community organizations within Saskatchewan. Darrell and his wife, Jan, reside in Watrous.

The Honourable Gene Makowsky, Minister of Advanced Education, joined Carlton Trail College’s regular October 2021 board meeting and offered well wishes to the new directors as they start their term.
