Air Ronge council passes vaccination policy

All Air Ronge municipal staff will need to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by Dec. 1.

That’s according to a new policy that came into force at a regular council meeting last week. It states all members of staff, as well as council, will need to be vaccinated by that date or undergo regular testing at their own expense.

The new policy also includes clauses for those who qualify for medical or religious exemptions.

“The village has a very small staff and we are aware we are all vaccinated, as is council,” administrator Gavin Willins said. “The reason why we went with that implementation date is we were already aware we all were.”

Back in October, the La Ronge council passed a similar vaccination policy in which all employees must comply by Nov. 30. The Northern Lights School Division, which has its head office in La Ronge, also has a vaccination policy in place.
