Stars fall 2-1 to Hounds in return home
The Battlefords North Stars fell 2-1 to the division-rival Notre Dame Hounds Saturday in North Battleford.
Despite firing 50 shots on goal – including 18 in the first period alone – the team was unable to break through more than once against goalie Ryley Osland, who stopped 49 of 50 Battlefords’ shots on the night, to lead his team to victory.
North Stars goalie, Lowen Kenyon also had a strong showing in the losing effort, still making 27 saves on 29 Hounds’ shots in what was a tight game throughout the night.
Following a scoreless opening period, Hounds defenceman, Sam Kroon opened the scoring for Notre Dame just 1:18 into the second period, on his third of the season, coming on a quick shot off a cross-seem play to make it 1-0 for the visitors.
