Hawks host North Stars on Teddy Bear Toss night
The Nipawin Hawks are looking to bust a five-game winless drought and support a good cause at the same time when they host the Battlefords North Stars Saturday.
Nipawin hasn’t been in action since a 3-2 loss against Flin Flon at the Centennial Arena on Tuesday, the club is looking for their first victory since a 4-3 overtime triumph in Melville on Nov. 26. Interim Head Coach Tad Kozun said Tuesday’s effort in the defeat to the Bombers was better, but the team needs to find consistency.
“I will give a lot of credit to the guys, from where we were to are, we just need to keep building on that,” he said.
The Hawks have struggled against the Stars this season losing their prior two contests by scores of 5-2 and 4-1. This will be the third of four contests this Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season. Nipawin has also slipped to 10th in the SJHL standings with assistance from the team’s recent slump. Kozun said the hard-fought loss this week can be a catalyst to the club righting the ship.
