Battle over first sees Broncos dominate at home over Bruins
By the end of Saturday’s Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) action at the Elgar Petersen Arena, one team would skate away with 48 points and first in the league.
Thanks to a stellar performance from goalie Rayce Ramsay and the green and gold, it would be the Humboldt Broncos with a 4-1 win over the former first-place Estevan Bruins as they will work to hang on to the top spot for the rest of the season.
Ramsay would stop 39 out of 40 shots the Bruins would fire his way for what Broncos head coach Scott Barney is calling his best performance of the season.
“To say that, he’s been outstanding every game but I just think he was at a different level last night, made some huge saves for us and gave us some big momentum to capitalize on opportunities,” Barney told northeastNOW.
