Sask. Baseball HOF invites community in with open house

Dec 15, 2021 | 1:00 PM

The Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will be opening their doors to the public this afternoon from 2-4 p.m., for their annual open house.

President and CEO, Jane Shury said the event is an opportunity for individuals and businesses alike to gather together and mingle, while also showcasing the museum and what it has to offer.

“Every year we invite individuals in the community, any businesses who may want to come, along with our mayors and the civic councillors from both Battleford and North Battleford to join us for this event,” Shury said. “We have a bar and we have some munchies, so it’s nothing dramatic, but it’s just something to promote our Sask. Baseball Hall of Fame and remind people that we’re here.”

The event serves as the latest in what has been a big year for the Hall of Fame and Museum, which included a return to their annual spring induction ceremony and yearly volunteer Christmas dinner, among other key fundraising and community efforts, after being closed for virtually all of 2020 due to the pandemic.

Shury said she hopes to see a good turnout throughout the afternoon, as it’s just another way to connect again with familiar and new faces, together in the community.

“It is absolutely wonderful to be able to get out and see friends and interact again,” she added. “Whether it’s this event, or at our volunteer supper last Thursday, how can you express being closed and not being able to do things, to now being able to do so once again; it’s truly wonderful.”

Outside of Wednesday’s open house, the museum remains closed for day-to-day operations, though they are available for tours for those who call ahead.
