The SaskTel Pioneers are holding their annual Christmas Wish Angels and Santa for Seniors to celebrate the season of giving.

This year, recipients in Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw, Yorkton, and Melfort will have an extra present under the tree thanks to the SaskTel Pioneers.

In a press release sent to northeastnow Sasktel said they are proud to recognize the ongoing work, dedication, and generosity of the SaskTel Pioneers.

Part of the Telephone Pioneers of America, the SaskTel Pioneers have spent the last 74 years volunteering and assisting a variety of worthy causes throughout Saskatchewan.

In an average year, the SaskTel Pioneers donate well over $200,000 and around $1 million of in-kind donations and volunteer hours to numerous charities and projects.

There are currently 1,232 active SaskTel employees and over 2,600 retired SaskTel employees across 12 clubs throughout the province that make up the Pioneers. Notable programs that the SaskTel Pioneers started in Saskatchewan include Hug-a-Bears, Heart Pillows, and Computers for Schools.

These are just a few examples of volunteer grassroots projects that make a real and tangible difference in Saskatchewan communities.

“SaskTel has always embraced giving back to the communities we serve, whether it be through one of our numerous sponsorships, our employee groups, or the SaskTel Pioneers,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel president and CEO.

“We are more than just a service provider, and the acts of kindness this holiday season, and all throughout the year, truly show the SaskTel spirit and the dedication of current and retired employees, who give both their time and money year after year.”
