RCMP investigating homicide in Air Ronge

La Ronge RCMP are now providing more information on the incident in Air Ronge Saturday that caused RCMP to report a heavy police presence at a residence.

La Ronge RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit are investigating a homicide of a woman in Air Ronge on Waco Drive early on Saturday morning.

The Northern Village of Air Ronge Council acknowledged the gravity of the situation on Sunday in a statement, while advising its residents to take precautions in ensuring the safety of their property and themselves.

“This is a tragic and devastating event in our community,” the statement read. “During a time like this, we are feeling a wide range of emotions. We want to remind and encourage everyone to be aware of their mental health and wellness. Seek help if you are struggling, reach out to your friends and neighbours for support.”

Investigators believe there may have been other property-related crimes in the area and asked that people check their properties to determine if they have been the victim of a crime.
