No new COVID-19-related deaths reported in the province, 1,027 new cases

Another day of high case numbers as the province reports 1,027 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today.

There are currently 8,229 cases considered active which includes 838 in the northern zones of the province.

Once again there have been no new COVID-related deaths today.

Of the new cases, 112 are in the north; Far North West (13), Far North East (nine), North West (36), North Central (39) and North East (15).

Nearly one-half (45.8 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.

As of Jan. 11, a total of 121 individuals are hospitalized, including 110 inpatient hospitalizations and 11 ICU hospitalizations. Of the 121 patients, 54 (44.6 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

The SHA dashboard includes 121 hospitalizations: 110 residents are inpatient: of those, 57 inpatient hospitalizations are a COVID-19-related illness, 44 are incidental, asymptomatic infections and nine have not yet been determined. Eleven residents are in ICUs: of those, 10 are for COVID-19-related illnesses, one is incidental, asymptomatic infections.

COVID-19 Summary for Jan. 11, 2022:

There were 6,861 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan from Jan. 5 – Jan. 11, bringing the provincial total to 94,080 cases. There were 2,084 recoveries recorded during the same period.

One new death was reported Jan. 5 – Jan. 11.

From Jan. 5 – Jan. 11, 14,967 first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of primary series vaccines administered in the province to 1,818,581.

An additional 52,730 third and fourth doses have been administered in the province from Jan. 5 – Jan. 11, bringing the total number of vaccines including boosters administered in the province to 2,193,645. Thirty-nine per cent of eligible residents age 18+ have now received their booster dose.

As of Jan. 11, 88 per cent of residents 12 years and older and 84 per cent of residents five years older have received their first dose. Eighty-four per cent of residents 12 years and older and 77 per cent of residents five years and older are fully vaccinated.

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported five new cases in NITHA communities on Jan. 10. Of the new cases, three (60 per cent) are not vaccinated; one (20 per cent) was partially vaccinated; and one (20 per cent) was fully vaccinated.

There are 109 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), one; Far North West, 27; Far North East, 71; North Central, three; and North East, seven. There have been 6,927 cases (98 per cent) recovered, and there are 0 hospitalizations.

Two cases in the Far North Central zone of the province remain active as of Jan. 10.
