Police arrest man after he confronts them with a machete
The Prince Albert Police Service arrested and charged a 34-year-old man after he confronted them with a machete Thursday night.
Yesterday police attended a call of a complaint of uttering threats at the 1200 block of First Street East just after 10 p.m. Once they arrived the man met them at the door with a machete and then went back inside and proceeded to barricade himself in the home.
Police attempted to negotiate with the man after containing the area. With assistance from the SWAT team and Crisis Negotiators the man surrendered just after 2 a.m. Friday morning.
The man had outstanding warrants of assault causing bodily harm and mischief but after the incident Thursday night, now has additional charges of assaulting a peace officer and uttering threats.
