Rush lose another nail-biter to Seals

Both teams played a defensive battle in the first half, with the Seals bringing in a 4-2 lead after the first half.

Robert Church and Mark Matthews each contributed on the score sheet within the first minute of each quarter.

The offence came pouring out in the second half, as the Rush struck for six goals in the 3rd quarter.

Church scored two of them to complete the hat-trick, but San Diego still held a 9-8 lead going into the final frame.

The Seals would extend their lead to two goals before one final surge from the Rush that saw them tie the game on a goal by Mike Messenger.

This knotted the game at 10-10 with nearly a full quarter still to play.

After over six minutes without any scoring, the Seals finally broke through.

Justin Noble gave the Seals the go-ahead goal, beating Rush goaltender Adam Shute.

San Diego added a crucial insurance goal by Austin Staats that would turn out to be the game-winning goal.

That goal would complete a hat-trick for Staats and earn him first star honours.

The Rush will be back in action on January 29th when they host the Panther City Lacrosse Club.
