Raiders hope to continue giant-killing trend against ICE
The Prince Albert Raiders will finally take to the Art Hauser Centre ice in the first time since Jan. 2, to take on the Winnipeg ICE.
The top-ranked ICE have only lost seven games all season (five in regulation, two in overtime) but two of those came at the hands of the Raiders. The Raiders defeated the ICE 4-1 on Dec. 14 at the Art Hauser Centre after a 4-3 overtime victory on Nov. 28 at the Wayne Fleming Arena. Of course, the ICE had an absolutely dominant result in the first meeting of the season, an 8-0 drubbing on Oct. 9.
Evan Herman scored a hat trick in the Dec. 14 meeting to lead the Raiders to victory. Sloan Stanick had overtime winning goal on Nov. 28, to cap off the Raiders’ comeback from a 3-0 deficit in that game.
According to the WHL Weekly Report, neither the Raiders nor the ICE have any injuries, nor do they have any players currently in COVID-19 protocol. However, both teams will be without key defencemen as Trevor Thurston will serve his second of a two-game suspension for a kneeing major penalty against the Red Deer Rebels on Monday. The ICE do not have the services of Karter Prosofsky for personal reasons.
