Province reports 909 new cases of COVID-19 today, total number of cases exceeds 110,000

The province is reporting another 909 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today along with 1,449 recoveries in the province.

There are now 12,753 cases considered active, 2,288 are located in the northern zones of the province.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (two), Far North East (16), North West (30), North Central (15), and North East (nine).

Three new deaths reported today brings the total of deaths to 975 Saskatchewan residents with COVID-19 have died.

There are currently 2,288 active cases of COVID-19 in northern Saskatchewan.

Two-fifths (40 per cent) of new cases are in the age category of 20 to 39.

As of Jan. 24, a total of 262 people are in hospital; including 233 inpatient, and 29 ICU. Of the 262 patients, 99 (37.8 per cent) were not fully vaccinated.

The SHA dashboard includes 262 hospitalizations: 233 residents are inpatient: of those, 92 inpatient hospitalizations are a COVID-19-related illness, 102 are incidental COVID infections and 39 have not yet been determined. Of the 29 residents in ICUs: of those, 21 are for COVID-19-related illnesses, five are for incidental COVID infections and three are undetermined, three residents are in PICU/NICU: two are for COVID-19-related illnesses, one is for incidental COVID infections.

The total number of cases in the province is now at 110,399 reported cases since the pandemic began; 23,589 cases are from the North area (10,306 North West, 9,807 North Central, 3,476 North East) and 10,202 cases are from the Far North area (4,813 Far North West, 582 Far North Central, 4,807 Far North East).

NITHA numbers

The Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority (NITHA) reported 20 new cases in NITHA communities on Jan. 23. Of the new cases, one (five per cent) are not vaccinated; two (10 per cent) are partially vaccinated; 15 (75 per cent) are fully vaccinated; and two (nine per cent) were not eligible for vaccination.

There are 203 active cases of COVID-19 in NITHA communities. These cases are located in the Far North Central (Athabasca), 24; Far North West, 42; Far North East, 95; North Central, 10; and North East, 32. There have been 7,241 cases (97 per cent) that have recovered, and there are 0 hospitalizations.
