Braiden Koran will be finishing up with the Humboldt Broncos this year as the 20-year-old forward moves to the next phase of his life.

The Kimberley, B.C. original will be heading even further from home as he will head east to start his post-secondary education at Ontario Tech.

So far, he has played 105 games with the green and gold, picking up 34 goals, 48 assists, and 82 points in three seasons and even more to come as the Broncos wrap up the 2021-2022 season with 11 games left.

While he is still undecided on what he will be studying, Koran feels this is going to be a great opportunity, especially as he is ready to go out on his own and improve his hockey skills.

“I’m just hoping to develop my skills against older players and hopefully get a pro contract when I’m done at my time at Ontario Tech.”

Head coach, Scott Barney, is happy to see such a hard working player and leader achieve even more success on and off the ice as Koran continues his career at such a high level of hockey.

“He’s a super kid on and off the ice and in the community, always had a smile on his face. He’s definitely a guy that you’ve loved to have (on your team). Obviously there’s a big hole that he’s leaving next year.”

Humboldt has been “truly amazing,” said Koran and he will treasure his entire experience.

“Everyone that I’ve experienced or encountered has made my time great and couldn’t be more thankful for the three years I spent here.”
