P.A. council set to discuss retro pay for CUPE employees, officially approve 2022 budget
Prince Albert’s council meets this week where they’ll discuss approving retro pay for CUPE employees.
The previous collective bargaining agreement between the city and Local 160 and 882 expired at the end of 2019, however, talks on a new deal were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in personnel.
In November 2021, the two sides met and agreed on 1.75 per cent salary increases for 2020 and 2021. If approved by P.A.’s council, CUPE employees will receive these top-ups through retro pay.
If given the green light, the city and CUPE can start negotiations on a new agreement for 2022.
