Family Day with the Broncos a way to thank Humboldt community

Feb 18, 2022 | 8:00 AM

The Humboldt Broncos will be welcoming fans young and old to a special Family Day game on Feb. 21.

The Broncos will face the Kindersley Klippers to the Elgar Petersen Arena in one of their last regular season home games with faceoff at 3 p.m.

Fans will also be welcomed with free admission sponsored by Terry’s No Frills and Farm World in Humboldt. There will also be a guaranteed 50/50 prize of $5,000 made possible by Wiegers Financial and Leroy Feeds.

For head coach, Scott Barney, he wants to see people out at the game and hopefully a Family Day game will encourage people to fill the arena, even until the end of the regular season.

Bigger crowds do mean more energy and motivation for the players, Barney told northeastNOW.

“Lot of times during the warm ups you already know it’s going to be a great crowd…that’s how we like to play home games.“

Following the game, there will be a community skate with the Broncos for all ages with mini-sticks available for all the young fans.

Barney told northeastNOW he hopes that helps to grow fans that will one day wear the green and gold.

This is a way for the Broncos to give back to the community. In Barney’s four years with the organization, the Humboldt community has always had tremendous support for the team from local businesses, charities and organizations that support them as much as they can.

The Broncos coaches and players always appreciate people coming out and then coming back with friends, said Barney.
