The Melfort Mustangs are hosting a free to attend game at the Northern Lights Palace.

All are welcome to watch the Mustangs take on the Nipawin Hawks on Saturday, March 5.

Mat Barrett, Director of Marketing & Business for the Mustangs, said the team wants to bring everyone together for one more push before the playoffs.

“We’ve got a few games left, and every game is huge at this point. So we need all the Mustang fans to come out and really support this group that’s worked so hard all year.”

After a whirlwind year filled with uncertainty, the Mustangs are extending their gratitude to everyone who made this year a success.

“We’ve had such great support from the community, great support from sponsors and volunteers helping out and working with us with the restrictions that we had to put in place.”

As restrictions were lifted across the province, masks will not be required for entry but the event is mask friendly.

“If you want to wear a mask, we encourage you to if that’s what’s gonna make you feel comfortable to come to support this group,” Barret explained. “We’re just gonna be happy to see people at the rink.”

The game is not the only exciting event for the Mustangs. This Sunday marks the annual banquet for the players.

Although the event celebrates all of the team’s supporters such as billets, sponsors, fans and volunteers, the spotlight is on the players.

“We want to bring all those people together and really just celebrate them and thank them and celebrate the hard work that these boys have put in all year.”

The night will feature cocktails, a catered dinner, awards and a jersey sale.

The team thanks fans for their continued support and asks them to continue cheering for the team heading into the playoffs.

“We’re just excited for the last few games of the year and we hope we get the support for the playoffs.”
