Humane Society planning father-daughter banquet fundraiser
The Battlefords Humane Society continues to fundraise for its long-term goal to build a new shelter to replace the existing aging facility.
The charity organization will host a fun banquet, called Winter Wonderland, on March 12, for fathers and their daughters under age 12, to help support the Shelter Us capital campaign. The event taking place at 6 p.m. at the Chapel Gallery will include dinner, a silent auction, a lottery for a chance to win a two-hour family sleigh ride, and a “princess party,” featuring actors dressed as storybook characters.
“We have professional princesses that will be coming in from Saskatoon,” local Shelter Coordinator Michelle Spark said. “They will be doing a show for the kids, singing and dancing, and taking pictures with them.”
The Humane Society raised about $750,000 to date for the new shelter project. The organization aims to break ground to start construction for the new facility, just north of North Battleford, in 2023. Plans are to first build a boarding facility for cats and dogs at the site to begin raising revenue.
