Game 5 of SPHL Finals headlines red-letter hockey schedule

Senior hockey supremacy will be on the line Thursday night in North Battleford in Game 5 of the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League (SPHL) Final between the Meota Combines and Turtleford Tigers.

Underway at 8:30 p.m. at the Access Communications Centre, the deciding game in the best-of-five series between the league’s top two teams will see the winner close the night with the distinction of being league champions.

AAA Stars in action

Also in action Thursday, the Battlefords U18 AAA Stars will play Game 3 of their first round series with the top-seeded Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox.

After tying their best-of-five series at a game apiece with a 4-3 victory on home ice earlier in the week, the AAA Stars will be looking to put the pressure on the Hounds with another win in Game 3, as Game 4 will be back at the ACC in North Battleford Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

This weekend

The hockey games Thursday lead into a busy weekend schedule for the junior team as well. The Battlefords North Stars will open their first round playoff series with the rival Flin Flon Bombers with Game 1 Friday and Game 2 Saturday in the community.

Both games will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the ACC. The NAPA Auto Parts North Stars Hockey Broadcast available on 1050 CJNB, with the Ultra Print Pregame Show at 7 p.m., and puck drop to follow at 7:30 p.m.
