Cumberland College is hoping to see the next school year look more like what they were used to before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The post-secondary school which has campuses in Nipawin, Melfort, and Tisdale has had a hectic couple of years with the virus forcing students to take classes online.

Brenda Mellon, manager of business development, told northeastNOW they’re anticipating in-person learning will see a big spike in September.

“We hope to see more students on campus filling the halls.”

The school plans on continuing to offer a blend of in-person and online learning, especially for those who remain a little cautious during the pandemic.

Mellon said the one positive to come from the past school years has been the work innovating the way they can offer an education to their students.

“It was an opportunity for us to learn how to offer distanced programming and support students in that matter.”

Despite the blended learning experience, Mellon added enrollment has been fine.

Like every year, the school is looking to get a head start on next year’s registration as they’re holding an open house.

Interested people can learn more about cost-saving measures and the school’s certificate, trade, diploma, and university programs.

“It’s also a great opportunity to come and hear from our current students,” said Mellon.

It takes place at their Melfort campus on March 22 with doors opening at 7 p.m.
