P.A. teams sent to consolation round at Hoopla, St. Brieux off to 2A finals
The three Prince Albert high school basketball teams found out just how tough Hoopla can be. The Carlton Crusaders boys, who were making their first appearance at the 5A provincial tournament, lost to second-ranked Saskatoon Holy Cross 82-55 in their first game. Luke Huddlestone had a game-high 20 points for the Crusaders. Brayden Hazzard was the only other Crusader to reach double digits in the game.
Both St. Mary Marauders teams fell in their first game as well. The Marauders boys had to face the top-ranked Harvest City team, falling 103-53. Peter Kiunga and Ethan Batiuk both had 13 points, tied for the Marauders lead in the game. The Marauders girls fell 82-29 to two-seeds Regina Campbell.
As a result, all P.A. teams will head into the consolation bracket.
In 2A Boys basketball, St. Brieux will advance to the finals tomorrow at their own school. They beat Preeceville 82-52 on Friday to advance to the gold medal game.
