For the third time this season, Tikhon Chaika has been named the best goalie in the Western Hockey League (WHL).

The Prince Albert Raiders goaltender was named the league’s goalie of the week after an impressive weekend that pushed the team into the playoffs.

Chaika went 2-0 over the weekend with a goals-against average (GAA) of 1.01.

The product of Minsk, Belarus started his week with a 32-save effort Friday as the Raiders beat the Broncos 4-1, then turned aside 19 shots Saturday as Prince Albert upended the Brandon Wheat Kings 5-1.

Chaika has now earned the WHL Goaltender of the Week honours three times this season. He was previously awarded the weekly honour for the weeks ending March 13, 2022, and April 3, 2022.

The Raiders begin their first-round playoff series against the Winnipeg ICE this Friday. The series shifts to Prince Albert for games four and five on April 26 and 27.
