Trial dates have now been set for a young woman accused of shooting and killing her ex-boyfriend.

Lynessa Highway is facing a charge of manslaughter for the death of 18-year-old Adam Pelletier in October 2020. Highway was also 18 at the time she was arrested.

At the conclusion of Friday’s pre-trial hearing, it was determined the case would be tried by judge alone at Court of Queen’s Bench, starting Jan. 23, 2023.

Five days have been set aside for the trial.

In the early morning hours of Oct. 10, 2020, Pelletier was shot and killed at a residence in the 1700 block of 14th Street West.

A not guilty plea was entered last April.

Pelletier’s mother April Roberts previously told paNOW her son only needed two credits to graduate. She also confirmed her son and Highway dated a number of years ago, but were not together at the time of the incident.

“I wish I knew how to feel but I am numb. I’m so lost without him. He was mommy’s boy,” Roberts said.

The case was originally scheduled for trial last December at Prince Albert Provincial Court, but Highway’s lawyer opted instead to have the case tried at Court of Queen’s Bench.
