Meadow Lake’s Farmers Market is moving to a new location.

The parking lot at Home Hardware will host the Farmer’s Market when it returns on June 10. Market manager Vicki Cockrum said they are very excited for the change

“Owner Don Marsh approached us and we saw that as a great opportunity for both sides,” she said.

The move increases parking capacity for patrons significantly, but also provides more convenience in structure. Home Hardware is providing the Farmer’s Market a large 30′ x 105′ tent to house every vendor, which Cockrum said is a luxury they haven’t had before.

“We can all fit under one tent, without anybody having to set up pop-up tents, or some being in a building and out of a building,” she said. “We are all now in one area.”

Marsh told meadowlakeNOW that this is something he and Cockrum had discussed on and off for years. Having seen how larger markets operate at other locations in the province they felt this was a fit.

“We felt the Farmer’s Market here could do with a different venue and a larger parking lot,” he said. “This year we just decided to take a serious stab at it and put it together.”

In addition to driving more traffic to their business, Marsh said it also provides a bit more visibility to the market and provides ease of access to most of the public.

“I’m personally looking forward to having them right here, accessible for me,” he said. “But on the flip side, it will be more easily accessible for the general population and I think it will be a win-win for both of us.”
