Three delegations at next council meeting

May 2, 2022 | 8:38 AM

Three parties have requested to speak to city council ahead of Monday’s executive council meeting.

Bob Coffin is following up on a request from 2018 to name the field between John Diefenbaker School and Crescent Heights arena in honour of Wendell Whitter.

Whitter died in 2018 and was well-known amongst people involved in Prince Albert’s minor football teams.

Prince Albert Crime Stoppers also wants to speak to council about having its bumper sticker applied to all city vehicles.

Similar initiatives have been done in Regina and Saskatoon and some provincial Crown Corporations.

The third group will be the Legion, which wants to place monuments in the town square to honour those who served in the Afghanistan and Korean Wars along with peacekeepers.

The Legion is asking to place six monuments near the Cenotaph.

The executive meeting of council starts at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
