Over 1,000 people came to the Prince Albert Exhibition Centre for the return of the Family Expo.

Dozens of vendors packed the main hall on Saturday, welcoming families from across the city and beyond for the first in-person expo since before the pandemic.

Committee Chair Ashlee Schmidt called the event a success.

“We had a very large turnout; we’d say in or around 1,500 people. This year, everything went over really great, tons of kids, lots of interactive activities and overall, a really great day for families.”

Some of the vendors who took part this year included first responders like Prince Albert Police, Parkland Ambulance and the Prince Albert Fire Department. Local non-profits such as the Community Alcohol Strategy Steering Committee (CASSC) and the Early Childhood Intervention Program (ECIP) were also there.

Families also enjoyed free books, face painting, pictures with princesses, an obstacle course from the Prince Albert Aerials Gymnastics Club and a chance to meet Silver the pony.

For Schmidt, it brought her great joy to see everyone come together again.

“It felt amazing, it was so nice to see smiling faces again and have the community come together again as they did. Everything from our food trucks and eating area, lots of smiles and laughs all the way to inside and our different vendors.”

Schmidt said the committee is already making plans for the seventh annual Family Expo next year.
