Alleged arsonist granted release on conditions

The woman accused of setting fire to the Senator Allen Bird Memorial Centre has been released from custody.

Gina Pearl Beatty appeared by video Tuesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

Beatty has been place under a number of strict conditions but as per a publication ban, those conditions cannot be discussed.The case is back in court on June 14.

On the morning of April 15, the Prince Albert Fire Department was called to the scene, and at least two trucks were observed hosing water on the roof on the south side of the building. Despite all their efforts, the building was a total loss.

There were no injuries, and the fire did not spread.

With respect to future plans for the building there’s been no formal announcement from Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC), but a spokesperson for PAGC has indicated to paNOW that a statement is being prepared.
