Swimmers soak up the sun on opening weekend of Kinsmen Water Park

The weather was perfect for the opening weekend of the Kinsmen Water Park in Prince Albert.

The park was packed from Friday to Sunday as many people came out to enjoy all the amenities without the need for any public health restrictions.

“We opened right on June 3, no restrictions,” said Recreation Programmer, Lauren Haubrich. “No one had to pre-register, no one had to book in advance, there were no capacity (restrictions), so it was really good.”

She added everyone from families and staff were happy to be back outside at the park and soak up the sun.

“We had lots of people come out this weekend. Everyone was very happy to be back. The weather was beautiful. The lifeguards were happy to be back outside, and it was an overall really successful weekend.”

While the rest of the season will be dependent on the weather, Haubrich and the rest of the crew at the water park are anticipating a very busy summer.

“Whether it’s a weekday or a weekend, I think we’ll definitely see a lot of people coming out to the water park. Lots of people do come early to line up outside so that’s a good sign for us. If you’re coming in and you’re expecting to get in right away, just be patient and we’ll make sure to get you in right away.”

The Kinsmen Water Park is open seven days a week with the public swim hours from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Lane swimming is open Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The park is open until August 21.
