The fall hockey season may still be three months away, but for the Battlefords North Stars, the team is keeping busy with events in the community over the next month.

The club will hold their first ever Season Ticket Kickoff BBQ this Saturday, with their AGM to end the month on June 27.

Season Ticket Kickoff BBQ

The Stars’ Season Ticket Kickoff BBQ will be held in the back parking lot outside of the Access Communications Centre this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Marketing and office manager with the team, Kennedy Schmidt told battlefordsNOW the event will bring the team and community together during the summer months.

“People will get a burger and a pop for $5, and we’ll have some of the local boys there to play street hockey with the kids for a couple of hours too,” Schmidt said. “We’ll also have our early bird ticket price that will only be available for two weeks, starting on that Saturday.”

New this year, the team has also added a special pricing option for families with young children.

“This year as an early bird deal we added in the family pack,” Schmidt continued. “So if you buy two adults’ [season tickets] at that early bird price, you’ll get two free 12-and-under tickets for the entire season too.”

Also featured will be a draw drum with a chance to enter to win two tickets to Country Thunder.

Annual General Meeting

The North Stars will hold their AGM June 27 at 7 p.m. at the Gold Eagle Lodge.

Open to the public, the event will go over the team’s financial standing from the past year, as well as their overall outlook and plans in general as an organization moving forward into the year ahead.

“It’s a chance for anyone in the public to see kind of what we’ve done, and what we’re looking at for the future here,” Schmidt said, adding that there will also be an opportunity for some board positions.

“If people would like to join the board and be a part of how our North Stars organization is run, this is a great opportunity to check in and see how we’re doing,” she said.

In addition to this month’s events, the North Stars are also now taking registrations for their Summer Hockey School, held Aug. 15–19 and 22–26. For more information on these and other North Stars events, visit their team website, Facebook page, or call the Stars Office.
